She had amazing violet eyes. She was devastatingly beautiful, and she could act. National Velvet, Father of the Bride and The Taming of the Shrew are among my favorites of her work. She was a champion for AIDS charity & awareness, at a time when few spoke about it - and she did so with compassion and logic. But when I saw this a couple of years ago, I laughed hard:
